About The Brand: Kimes Ranch video transcript:
Whenever you guys can pull it together. We're gonna start . Okay. . I'm better by myself. I don't really like to share the screen. That's not kidding.
Are you laughing because this is awkward at the moment, staring at you like this. Does somebody need to an ask us questions so we can start, or do we just need to like roll it? There we were in March of 2009, dead broke. Not knowing what to do. Let's spend the money we don't have and go start a jean company.
It'd be great years later, here we are. And the end.
Okay, you can start like that, but like, without the like, sarcasm. I'm a, I'm a bad recorder from the forties. Will, Becky, should we introduce. Do you wanna introduce who you are? That would be great. How about you introduce yourself? I'm Amanda. I'm Matt. It's so nice. . Nice to meet you.
Okay. Hi, I'm Amanda Kimes. I'm Matt Kimes of Kimes Ranch. This is our story, the American Dream. You go first there We were on a sunny day. Uh, so back. Gosh, let's see, what was it? March of 2008. Nine. 2009? No, it was eight. No, we got married in December of 2008 and we started a company in March of 2009. We got married in 2008.
And then in March of 2009, neither Matt or myself were happy with the direction of our employment. Matt was working a finance business, which was tanking because the economy was crashing. If everyone remembers the great recession. And I was a, uh, wine, uh, in the wine distribution business. Um, and I was terrible at it cause I drank all of my inventory.
It's not entirely true, but it was also going nowhere due to the, uh, economy. So we decided to build a brand together, and that was always something we wanted, was to build a brand, something that became bigger than Matt and myself. And we both had this great idea to start a gene company because should have done t-shirts and hats.
We should have done t-shirts and hats. So we went with the hardest garment there is to make, cuz we didn't know what we were doing. But lo and behold, the universe was telling us what we should do because that very night on the Discovery Channel was an episode of how it's made and what we're on it that night.
Jeans. Jeans. So we learned that night how to make jeans from how it's made. We also Googled how to make jeans. That helps as well. Very insightful. So we, neither of us have a design background or any kind of, uh, background in, in textiles at all. But, uh, we had the dream of building a jean company. We knew jeans from wearing them and uh, different aspects, you know, everything from fashion on an every day to riding.
And, uh, we felt the easiest way to get into the market would be go to a specific, um, niche, which would be riding. And so we created a, uh, jean for those that ride, for people that rode. We grew up showing quarter horses, and that's our background. So we were like, well, you know, we'll just make jeans and take them to our core market, people that we've known forever, and why wouldn't they wanna buy?
Um, when everybody knows who we are. So that's what we did. We quit our jobs basically within a few days of this, um, how it's made episode. And we went to Los Angeles and went to Garment District and uh, which was a ghost town at the time. It was a ghost town. We bought denim and rolls of paper to make patterns and things to sew jeans.
Um, now we said we don't have a design background or anything, nor do we know how to sew, however, I was going to sew the first pair of jeans. We didn't have a contractor, so we didn't have any contacts over there. And even to this day, it's hard to get on and find some sort of list of contractors. It's very cat and mouse over there.
So, um, we didn't have a way of finding out who to use. So again, Amanda was gonna sew for us. So we brought all this home with this, uh, great idea that we're gonna take a sewing machine and, and make a pair of jeans and go. As you can imagine, that did not work at all, not even a little bit. So the next best thing is to hire, uh, somebody off of Craigslist.
Craigslist, , eh, six weeks and a bunch of money later. We had the world's worst pair of jeans. We tried them on the Starbucks. In downtown Scottsdale and, they ripped in the crotch and we were not deterred. We thought they were fantastic, but everyone saw your underwear. We still have them hanging, uh, in the office as a reminder of how far we've come.
Um, at that low point, which now I think we're about six weeks into this process. Um, I did some research online until I finally found that elusive list and, uh, there were like 50 different names of different contractors, and the 30th person answered the phone. And he remains our cutter to this day. And he put us onto our sewing facility.
And those two, we went over and met with him the following week and they've been with us ever since. And as well as our pattern maker. Yeah, Leslie, love Leslie. So she looked at what we did and was like, I can do better. And she came back within three hours and 150 bucks. And we had two patterns that were, uh, what we currently use today, the Betty and the Barney.
And we were off and running. We made our first 300 pair of jeans and we were going to a horse show and we were gonna sell 'em all and turn around and do it again and again and make millions of dollars. And we went to the first horse show. We showed up and nobody cared. No, not one person where our friends took some and we're like, oh, very good, thank you.
But at the time we were making a product that was completely different than was out there. It was higher rise, it was slimmer. It was, uh, darker denim, uh, and everything at the time was super low rise on the women's side, overprocessed on the men's, crazy big baggy. And, um, it was a total like where we wanted people to be and we took a huge leap over here and they just wanted to be over here.
So they looked at our product and didn't, they were very kind, but they didn't want anything to do with it. So, uh, that was our, our, one of our first obstacles. So since nobody wanted to buy our. Um, we were like, okay, well we can't sell 'em at horse shows, but I'm sure we can sell them at, um, truck stops, swap meat on the side of the road, swap meet.
We tried to go to swap meet and sell 'em for $10 over what we made 'em for so we could take that money and go adjust, make adjustments and do it again. And, uh, we had a handmade sign off out of cardboard that said, come try jeans on in a motor home. And we would park it on the side of the. as our friends drove by and called us like, what the heck are you doing?
What are you doing? Why are you torturing yourselves? I don't understand why no one wanted to come into a creepy motor home and try on. Yeah, come on into our motor home. Try on our jeans. Totally reasonable. It's legitimate. Nobody stopped. Like nobody even was like, we sat there all day. Drank some beers and nobody stopped.
Um, and then, we finally decided that probably the best way of doing it was to get away from where we are. Everybody that knows us people, people wanna be supportive, but at the end of the day, they, they don't know you for doing that. So you kind of like need to go away and find a newer market within the same niche that, that they're willing to try something different.
So we, uh, we got on the road and got out of Arizona and we're going from rodeo to horse show to, um, different. Selling 'em one at a time and every sale was like this. It was like a huge deal. Um, not, I don't mean like selling thousands of jeans, I mean like literally a pair of jeans or a t-shirt was a big deal for us.
Well, it meant we could go to dinner. Yeah. And then, uh, one of the events that we did was the nfr. Um, and our goal was to do like 30 pair in a day. And if we could hit that number, we would be. And we would do like 15 and 12, and then one day we hit 30 and we, we went out and celebrated that night. 30 pair.
That was a, that was a huge deal for us. We also had two kids. Um, we started the company in March. I found out I was pregnant in May, and our first son was born a year later in March. And then my daughter was born a year later in September. So, um, we were going from event to event to event. Um, just the two of us and the kids.
So we had two under two until they were 18 months and two, and then they're running all over the place. And a low point that I can remember was we had been on the road so long and we were just kind of ending up this last leg that we had been doing. And we had, um, still more hours to drive that night, but we pulled over into a restaurant that was inside of a, um, a hotel parking lot, like an Applebee's or something.
And we pulled over and went to go get some dinner and. My son pointed to the hotel and started crying how badly he wanted to go home. I just want to go home. And home to him was a hotel. And I looked at Matt and I said, it's time for us to go home. Time for us to go home. So we packed up and went home and regrouped and, uh, through this process.
There's a lot of capital to be had to, to make denim. It's not like t-shirts or hats where you can just go grab a blank, put your logo on it and go sell your brand. Um, you have to create the product from scratch and you have to buy the denim, choose it, own the denim, make the product in certain sizes.
Especially the market we're in, you couldn't just put it out in size 34 length and call it good. You had to have 32 through 38 every different size. So there's a lot that goes into it. So the capital would always run thin. And, um, we sold horse trailers. Uh, we sold our trucks. We sold saddles. Tack.
Yeah, tack. I sold an old Lincoln Continental that I had anything I could keep to kind of replenish, um, the company and keep it going. Everything was a win. Um, and doing that, it kind of just kept us moving, moving further down the road. We also went in the low points when we were outta season and not being able to go and sell.
We would broker equipment to Alaska cuz her father worked in Alaska. Uh, on the slope and he would call up and say, I need this tractor, I need that rock hammer, I need whatever. And we would find these pieces of equipment and send it. So while we're working our company, we're also trying to do something on the side to kind of put more money back into the company.
It's a very humbling experience to ask your family and neighbors to invest in the brand that they don't yet believe in. We did have a couple friends that did, um, and we would borrow a certain amount of money from 'em and pay 'em back in a few months with interest. And we'd do that two or three times, but it took a special two or three that would actually do that.
But everybody got paid back on time with, uh, with interest, and they made money off of our progress, which we're kind of proud of that, um, that we were o it was okay for us to borrow, but we had a, a, a note written out and how much interest they were gonna get and on a schedule, and we made those payments whether, whether, uh, it never got undone.
So then fast forward to I'd say 2014 is where things really started going for us. So the, from 2009, 10, 11, 12, we kind of got the groundwork laid. Um, we had some partners come in that really didn't work out very well. That was kind of, it took, took us out of business for about a year. But at the end of that year, um, that we weren't in business selling the product, the people that had the product were missing it.
And so we relaunched in 2014 with a new name. We still had the same logo, same product, everything. We just changed our name to Kimes Ranch. Um, people were waiting for us and then from 14 until now, it's just been growth overgrowth. Overgrowth. That was the point where we were finally in a position to be able to hire people.
We hired a marketing director. We hired a friend to be a, um, uh, sales. We hired Warehouse help and everything just has kind of gone from there and the direction has gone. We've always had this vision of being not just a Western brand, but like a lifestyle brand that's Western based and, and we're reaching those audiences now six years on.
It's fun now. It's fun when people like your product. Yeah. And they say they see it everywhere. And in the beginning when we would sell those one or two pair of jeans, we kind of know who everybody that. So if you saw somebody wear it, you go, oh, oh, that's Bill. He bought those a few months ago. But now people come to us all the time and say, I see your stuff everywhere.
And it's just everyday average people that enjoy what we're trying to do, the culture we've created, the product that we're putting out there, and they're proud to wear our brand, which makes us proud because, uh, gives us a good feeling that we've actually done something people like. So, good job. Is that it?
Well done. Oh, good job On what you've done, your. You too. You as well. Amanda's usually the face, but they make me do this every once in a while.
what else would you like us to bring up? Uh, tell us how you named the original jeans. Like where did the logo come from? I'm, so before we were married, uh, couples by dogs together and do that kind of thing. We bought two Longhorns. Uh, we were gonna be cattle bears. Cats, yeah. Cattle. So we bought, bought a so you a heifer.
And what else we need when you wanna be a cattle bear? A steer. That's right because everybody needs a herd steer to do nothing. So we bought yard ornaments. Yeah. So our herd steer is Barney. Barney and he still lives today. Our heifer is Betty. So we had the two of them. So when we obviously never got further than the two of them, and it was about a year later that we started this company and I had created a brand that was similar to what we have now, but it was more angular.
We were gonna brand this giant herd of cattle. Yes. That we were gonna run on our many, many acres. Many, many acres. And, um, I had it written, I had sketched it out in a book and I never did anything with it. Didn't create a brand. Uh, well then she came to me and she said, we need a logo.
I really like your logo. So I took it and then taught myself Adobe Illustrator and kind of smoothed it out and made it what it is today. And then when we were trying to come up with a. . Um, we just liked the logo. We didn't really like the name of anything. We couldn't think of a name for the company. We just wanted to have the logo and say company.
So it's this company like, almost like Prince? Yeah, if you will. The symbol was more important to us, like the Nike Swoosh, um, was more important to us than the actual name. Um, when we then came out with our first two pair, obviously we had Betty and Barney, the cows. So we had Betty and Barney, the men's and women's jeans, the men's and women's jeans.
Betty still resides as our best selling, fastest selling women's. Women's pair of jeans and women's style. The Barney's been adjusted into a style called the Watson. There was a few changes that need to be made, so it morphed into the Watson. And, um, some people that are originals still want us to bring back the Barney, and maybe we will at some point.
But right now, um, uh, it doesn't, it's not in the current lineup, but, uh, Barney is alive and barely. He had a big scare. Yeah. Last year he had eye cancer. We removed it, but he's, he's good to go. But Betty is, um, Betty, we lost. early on. She makes you rest in peace. Yes, she's buried right over there in the pasture, but uh, she wasn't a nice Yeah.
Barney's Barney, way nicer, sweet, and gentle. And she was a horrendous thing. He's had a better life since Betty. He's better off for it. Kicked it. That was terrible. Does sound bad. But Betty was a danin, but her jeans are outstanding. Yeah. So that's the, that's, that's the start of the company's name. And then, but we started out as Longhorn Jean Company because what else are you supposed to call a pair of jeans?
That was the first name. We came up with it and we hated it. And then we moved on to like 50 different names. So we became Ljc Apparel circled back to Longhorn. Don Karen became d k n Y. We became Ljc Apparel. Yeah, we got a letter from the University of Texas that said Longhorn Gene Company can't exist. I don't know what we about that went.
We went to, uh, Well, we can edit it out, but we went to the, uh, attorney and the attorney says, you can do it, but it's gonna cost you a quarter of a million dollars. So we changed it to Ljc. Then they didn't have a problem with the logo, they had a problem with the name. So we changed it to LJ Ljc apparel for then when Betty died, we became Lone Horn for a moment, which is a stupid name, which was a dumb name.
And then, um, when we got back in, we always felt it was pretentious to put our own name on it, but our marketing director said, you need a color, you need a name, you need to put your name. So we called it Kims Ranch and we've never looked back. Now I don't think twice about it, but the beginning I was a little embarrassed by our marketing director that she's right on those things though.
She was. So, she's done one thing, right? Maybe two, a couple. But making us do this video is probably not one of her better things. I'll advised this sucks. . Careful with your nails. What else do you want us to mention? I think we've covered, damn it. Um, maybe a little more about like the family aspect. I like the story about bringing the kids cause like, I got it.
Have anymore. I'm gonna lead you in. I'm gonna set you up. Uh, also when you're in business, when you're in business or when you start a business, there are some like golden cardinal rules of things that you're absolutely not supposed to do. Many of those go, go into business with your wife and hire all your friends.
Go into business with your. Don't do it. Well hire all of your closest friends. Well, if you look at our group, I'll just explain it to you. So our marketing director, her name is Lindsay and she's one of our closest friends and she was one of the first people to really believe in one, the only person that really believed in what we were doing.
Two, her and our, and our our are. Sales manager. Sales manager, Garrett. Uh, so Garrett also we've known forever. His mother and my mother grew up showing horses together and we're in each other's weddings. I've known Garrett since he was two years old. So there's that. Uh, and then he brought in all of his friends from when he was a car salesman.
So we are overrun by friends, car salesman. And then our and friends, they're sort of friends. I mean, they're like a newer assistant to the marketing director, siblings assistant to marketing director. I've known since she. , five years old. Our Chief Laminating Officer. Yes, we've known her for our life and my, my father manages our warehouse and my mother works in accounting and half of the warehouse are our neighbors and they all have dogs and they're all on the ranch all the time, and they all bring their children out here.
And we have like 50 children during the, we look like a big compound, like a communo. The difference is, is everybody's good at what they do. I mean, our marketing director does have an mba.

Tristan Martin’s baby boy has been his lucky charm from the day he was born. This past weekend, Martin’s wife, Josee, and five-month-old, Boudreaux, accompanied him to Guymon, Oklahoma for the Guymon Pioneer Days rodeo. With lucky charm in tow, it was no surprise that Sulphur, Louisiana steer wrestler took home the title.
“It has always been on my bucket list to win,” says Martin, “I’m glad to be taking the belt home with me this year and super thankful for this sport and to be able to enjoy it with my family.” Martin not only won the average on a horse borrowed from fellow steer wrestler Cade Staton, but consistently made runs under four seconds to place in all three rounds.
Martin has maintained a strong presence at the top of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association standings in 2022. Coming off of his first National Finals Rodeo in December, he won the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo to propel him to first in the world standings. Months later, he’s still solidly within the top fifteen – the cowboys who qualify for the National Finals Rodeo – at third place with $54,923.32 in winnings to date. Martin finished the 2021 season fifth in the world with earnings of $172,827. Boudreaux patiently waited until after his dad was done competing in Las Vegas to make his arrival and this year Martin hopes to celebrate his son’s first birthday by bringing home a gold buckle. We’d say the Kimes Ranch cowboy is well on his way to writing his name in the rodeo history books.

While the Kimes Ranch Rodeo Team hails from all over the country, the month of March found nearly all of them in the same place: Texas. The checks that they won at these rodeos have catapulted them to the top of the world standings in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association.
With a payout of nearly $1.7 million dollars, RodeoHouston can be a game-changer in the rodeo season. Bareback rider Logan Patterson qualified for the semifinals after two 83-point rides and Chad Rutherford consistently marked more than eighty points, finishing seventh in the championship round with an 85-point ride. Rutherford’s RodeoHouston earnings kept him in the sixth-place spot in the world standings, setting him up for a potential second qualification to the National Finals Rodeo.
On the other end of the arena, Kimes Ranch’s team roping duo, Quinn Kesler and Caleb Hendrix, placed in all three rounds of RodeoHouston Super Series 4 to take home $5,750 while barrel racer Wenda Johnson ran a 14.53 second pattern to qualify for the semifinals and ultimately finish seventh in the championship round. Johnson continues to leave her competition in the dust, winning the first round at San Angelo and holding on to her second-place spot in the WPRA world standings.
After a major win at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, Louisiana steer wrestler Tristan Martin kept his momentum alive with a 4.5 second run at the Walker County Fair and Pro Rodeo in Huntsville, Texas, which helped him maintain his second-place position in the world standings.

The talented individuals that are heading to Las Vegas in December are Chase Brooks (Saddle Bronc), Paden Bray (Team Roping, Heeler), Quinn Kesler (Team Roping, Header), and Wenda Johnson (Barrel Racing). Earning their way to the NFR, these athletes have worked tirelessly all year to finish the regular season with enough winnings to be a part of this prestigious event.
If you need directions, Chase Brooks knows his way to Las Vegas, as this will be his fourth trip to the NFR! Brooks is currently sitting seventh in the world in saddle bronc riding. Chase is coming off a solid 2020 season, where he had earnings of over $150,000. This Montana cowboy is the epitome of consistency and his name is sure to be on the big screen often come December.
At 22 years old, Paden Bray already has the resume of a seasoned veteran. A 2019 Resistol Rookie of the Year title was followed by a memorable 2020 Wrangler NFR, winning the average with partner Erich Rogers, and then by a huge win at The American in 2021. The crowd is sure to be cheering on this young team roper as he heads to Vegas sitting #3 in the world standings.
The talent runs deep in Quinn Kesler from Holden, Utah. This cowboy is heading to his third NFR, but his first in the heading. Surprisingly enough, his two previous NFR qualifications came on the other end, as a heeler. Quinn currently sits #15 in the World for Team Roping, after a nail biter of an end to the regular season.
Wenda Johnson is making her way to Las Vegas with her place as one of the top barrel racers in the world after a year filled with some big wins including Reno and San Angelo. She is currently ranked 13th for the 2021 standings, and this trip to the NFR will be her second time qualifying for the big one. It’s a guarantee Wenda will bring some heat to Vegas this year!
The National Finals Rodeo, known as NFR, is back in Las Vegas after moving to Arlington, Texas for the 2020 event. The NFR is known as the “Super Bowl of Rodeo” as it showcases the top 15 cowboys and cowgirls in the seven main events of rodeo: bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling and tie-down roping.

When it was announced that reining’s richest event, The Run for the Million, was adding a $150,000 added cow horse fence challenge to its 2021 schedule, the excitement level for this already thrilling weekend of competition was kicked up a notch. 15 of the NRCHA’s top professionals were invited to the South Point in Las Vegas to compete for a Champion’s check of $60,000. Included in this prestigious group was Kimes Ranch family members Clayton Edsall, Erin Taormino, and Chris and Sarah Dawson.
On the evening of August 20th, fans packed the South Point arena and this group of riders and their amazing equine partners did not disappoint. Fans were on their feet and the cheers were deafening for some of the most talented horses and riders in the industry. The cattle were tough, the riders were determined, and the horses gave their all. When the dust settled, the biggest check of the night went to NRCHA Million Dollar Rider Zane Davis after an impeccable run with the great Rubys Radar.
The Kimes Ranch team was on fire with one great run after another. Sarah Dawson and Travelin Miss Jonez took home the reserve champion title and over $22,000. Following close behind was Chris Dawson and CSR Lay Down Sally tying for the 3rd place finish with Clayton Edsall and Metallic Train. Erin Taormino was the last run of the night, and she and Im So Stunning ended the evening with a bang and a strong 7th place finish. The energy in the room was palpable, and it feels like a safe bet that cow horse will be back for the 2022 Run for The Million event.
The Kimes Ranch athletes sure hope so. Clayton Edsall shared his thoughts, “I feel like this was such a great platform for us to share the athleticism of our horses and the excitement that can only be found in the sport of cow horse. I met many people over the last few days who had made the trip specifically to watch the fence challenge which is pretty cool. I feel that tonight was a great representation of what our sport is all about.”
The Run For A Million took place Aug. 18-21 at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas. To learn more about The Run For A Million, visit www.trfam.com

https://kimesranch.com/blogs/news/taylor-sheridan-where-the-american-west-meets-show-biz2021-02-14T15:00:00-07:002021-09-15T13:48:30-07:00Taylor Sheridan: Where The American West Meets Show BizLindsay Perraton
For many people, Yellowstone and Taylor Sheridan have become household names in recent years. Many might be wondering, where did he come from? How does someone from Hollywood capture the American West so accurately and with so much reverence? Short answer? He doesn’t come from Hollywood.
It is time to answer the burning question of who is he and where did he come from? Sheridan hails from Cranfills Gap, Texas, just outside of Waco. He grew up on the FEA cattle ranch. Growing up on a ranch of any sort is tough, but it also makes you tough which is evident by Sheridan’s resilience and grit he brings to Hollywood.
Sheridan found himself on the path Hollywood after his parents’ divorce brought the sale of the FEA cattle ranch. He didn’t take the sale of the ranch lying down. “Sheridan took a bus to Cranfills Gap and then walked the last three miles. He sat himself at FEA’s front gate with a shotgun. For four months, he scared off Realtors and prospective buyers” according to an interview he did with Esquire Magazine in 2018.
His start in acting was not the “big break” we all imagine actors and directors get easily. Just like everything else in his life, Sheridan put his nose to the grindstone and got to work. He was scouted as model initially but was able to audition for a commercial in Chicago which he got the part. From there he found himself acting in New York, which for someone from the American West, is a large change in culture! Being miserable in New York, sent him West to Los Angeles. But his big break was still may years away. He was completely homeless, living in the hills of L.A. during this time. Sheridan has never felt at home in either New York or Los Angeles. From his interview with Esquire Magazine he explains why he continues to be drawn back to the American West “I’ve felt real lonely in Los Angeles and New York…but never out here, never where there’s space.”
Over the years he got some acting roles in various big-name movies and television shows such as Sons of Anarchy. According to Esquire Magazine “in early 2011, he swore to Nicole that he could write them out of their misery. She dipped into their meager savings and bought him the screenwriting program Final Draft.” And the rest is truly history. Sheridan has given us his all with his writing and directing, but true to cowboy code, he isn’t done yet.
Sheridan is a mastermind, and his screenwriting and directing has shown that. We all know and love him for his creation, Yellowstone. But he has given us hope that the western way of life is not lost in history, it is alive and well if we just open our eyes. a

When it comes to producing great roping events, Chris Neal strives for growth. Chris has produced a number of events in Oklahoma, Texas and Las Vegas, focusing on the youth competitor. This new event will focus on ropers who compete at all levels. Entries open September 1st and close on September 30th.
The Kimes Ranch Jeans Oklahoma’s Richest presented by American Hat Company will be held at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma from October 16-18. “I’ve always wanted to have a standalone spectator event that created a social environment for calf roping fans to enjoy while watching the best in the world. With all of the uncertainty and cancelations of big events and major rodeos, I felt like now was the perfect time to present contestants the opportunity to win big money” says Chris Neal.
The main attraction for the weekend will be the celebrity match roping’s. The reigning Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Tie-Down Roping World Champion Haven Meged will match PRCA’s current number one tie-down roper Shad Mayfield in a $5000 winner take all match. These two elite ropers will battle it out on a 10 head average.
“We at Kimes Ranch feel extremely privileged to be able to champion new and visionary events like this one. Our partnership with Chris Neal on Oklahoma’s Richest is an exciting way to showcase the best of Tie Down and Breakaway Roping. Additionally, we applaud the advancement of the Breakaway industry and any light we can shine on these talented women. Any event produced by Chris is a must attend event with his attention to detail and seamless implementation. Oklahoma’s Richest will no doubt be a premier event for exhibitors and spectators alike.” – Lindsay Perraton, Kimes Ranch Director of Marketing
With the explosion of breakaway roping over the last two years, there was no way we wouldn’t recognize the talent the ladies have to offer for the same money, $5000 winner take all. Nineteen-time Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) World Champion Jackie Crawford will match the Fan Favorite. The Fan Favorite is being voted on through October 1. The Fan Favorite pool started with a group of ten girls and each week, one girl is eliminated.
Schedules changed for the Prairie Circuit Finals, so at Oklahoma’s Richest we also get to witness the first ever breakaway finals for the association. As an added bonus we will get to cheer on the top 12 ladies from Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska as they battle it out for the inaugural circuit championship.
Throughout the weekend, there are other events happening as part of Oklahoma’s Richest payout. Breakaway ropers will have the opportunity to qualify for Jackie Crawford’s Rope for the Crown and there is a win you’re in spot available for the Women’s Rodeo World Championships (WRWC). Youth competitors can qualify for the annual Junior American and Tuf Coopers Junior World Championships.
This event is made for spectators. There will be vendors on-site and you won’t want to miss the Kimes Ranch Jeans Cantina After Party with live music and a Calcutta.
Events like these don’t happen without the support of industry partners. Keith Mundee of American Hat Company says “Hats off to Chris Neal!! There are three types of people in the world. People that make it happen, people that wait for it to happen, and people that wonder what the heck just happened. Chris made it happen and we’re excited to be a part of it.

This season of Yellowstone was one for the books, and if you watched the season finale this past Sunday…we are all anxiously awaiting season 5.
If you’re not as familiar with the popular television show that has every one talking... here is a little refresher from our previous As Seen on Yellowstone blog.
“The Dutton’s have taken the world by storm. Based in modern day Montana, Yellowstone portrays the modern struggles ranchers face to survive in our ever-changing modern world. Whether you relate to the green ranch hands like Jimmy, the misunderstood son Kayce Dutton or the wiley ways of Beth Dutton, the cast and crew of Yellowstone truly touch everyone who watches them.
Produced by equine enthusiast Taylor Sheridan, many of the AQHA and NRHA viewers have seen some familiar faces (both equine and human). We have also seen some of the top NRHA professionals make their debuts in the show, such as our very own Matt Mills!”
This season we also saw other top professionals such as Bob Avila, Tracer Gilson and Corey Cushing. Another big name in music made a reappearance as well, the one and only Ryan Bingham who plays Walker.
We wanted to highlight a couple of the products you may have seen on Yellowstone this season. If you’re interested in seeing what products have been on past seasons of Yellowstone you can check that out here (https://kimesranch.com/blogs/news/as-seen-on-yellowstone).
The Betty
You see Monica wearing the Betty throughout many scenes during this season. Here she is pictures with Floyd and Tate at cow camp.

This past weekend Kimes Ranch had their annual photo-shoot at the ranch, and what a shoot it was! For those who have never experienced what goes on behind a product shoot, I would equate it to a horse show. Early mornings, late nights and the ever famous “hurry up and wait.” It takes a village to get one perfect picture, just like it takes a village to get everything to come together on a horse.
Luckily Kimes Ranch has the best (we aren’t biased), location, clothes and of course models! One of those models was the beautiful Holly Favour. The Prescott, Arizona cowgirl won the modeling contest with 584 verified votes. I was lucky enough to get to know Holly over the duration of the shoot and not only is she drop dead gorgeous but she’s down-to-earth and well-spoken.
Holly was generous enough to answer my questions while on the road. If you haven’t already read it, you can find Holly’s modeling bio here. http://www.kimesranch.com/holly-favour
You had the opportunity to model for Kimes Ranch after winning their contest. How did you get so many votes?
Honestly, I was surprised with the amount of votes I received. The support I got from just my friends and family meant a lot to me but I was overwhelmed with how far that extended through to people from my hometown and especially the rodeo community. I think that just goes to show how tight knit the rodeo world is! I am blessed that I have the people I do in my life that support me and reached out to encourage others to do the same; I think that's where it really helped me.
Tell us about your sales and merchandising background you mentioned in your bio.
My first sales experience was at a beauty apothecary boutique in Santa Ynez, CA, I started with sales then as I furthered my studies in fashion merchandising became interested in the visual merchandising end of things. That's a plus to working in a small boutique, you have to wear many hats, so I was able to gain experience in that. I then began to work in another women's designer clothing boutique in the area, which is now the boutique that my older sister Lindsay owns. Since she's taken over the business I help out whenever I can and have learned even more about the ins and outs of a small business especially sales and merchandising.
Your bio said you've dabbled in modeling before. Who have you modeled for?
Dabbled being the key word, haha. When I first started working for Lady Bug Boutique I modeled for their online sales and have continued to model for their website, social media and promotions. So far modeling hasn't been a main focus for me; my time and energy is being devoted to my horses. That's why I am excited about this opportunity because it allows me to pursue both at the same time!
Tell us about your experience as a model for Kimes.
It was an awesome experience I'm so lucky to have been a part of it. I wasn't sure what exactly to expect going into it but it far exceeded any expectations I may have had. Everyone was so welcoming and nice, it made for a very comfortable and fun environment which made my "job" that much easier. I’m excited to see the result of the authenticity that the brand, their products and the nature of the shoot represented in the final photos.
Do you have a new found respect for photographers and models?
Definitely, I have so much respect for everything and everyone it takes to carry out such a production. There's so much that goes on behind the scenes that people don't always realize. It is a team effort for sure and this was a great team to be a part of.
The shoot had chickens and ponies generating the #JustTheRightAmountofOdd. What would you consider your "right amount of odd"?
Hmm, I'm sure there are lots of odd things about me that are "just the right amount of odd" so I don't realize they're odd, haha! One odd thing that I find myself doing over and over even though the outcome is always the same (I think that's basically the definition of crazy?!) is I hate wasting food so when I don't clean my plate I always get a to go box and take it home as if I might eat it later but I never do, ever! Yet somehow taking it home makes me feel better about wasting it. It makes no sense I know!
You've modeled all the jeans at the shoot. Which one is your favorite style and why?
I liked all their jeans. They all fit well and have all the qualities I need in jeans to fit my lifestyle. My favorite for riding and rodeoing is the Jolene. I like the lower rise, it's the perfect amount of low, making it comfortable when riding around and the flare boot cut lays over my boots just how I like them to. I like the Betty if I'm going to clean up and go out because of the classic clean look, the higher rise and slim leg make for a very sleek look you can pair with anything.
Describe your personal style.
There's not really one word that can sum up my style. There are two very different sides of me; my love of fashion and my love of horses and the rodeo lifestyle. So while I like to be up to date in the fashion world and consider myself pretty fashion forward, that's not always practical for the rough and tumble side of me. A few things hold true for me despite which "world" I'm dressing for: less is more, sometimes simple is better and classy never goes out of style.
Did you attend college? What did you study?
I first attended Northern Arizona University (NAU) for Interior Design until I decided that I wanted to pursue rodeo more than what that was allowing me, since NAU didn't have a rodeo team. From there I began online college where I studied fashion merchandising.
Your bio said you're a professional barrel racer. How long have you had your card? What are your goals for the coming year?
I got my W.P.R.A. Permit right after I turned 18, I filled two permits over that summer winning the permit saddle for the A.W.P.R.A then got my card the following year in 2009. My goals for this year are simply to make strides with the horses I have going now. I’m looking to finish and season them in hopes of them becoming top rodeo contenders so I can hit the rodeo trail harder with bigger goals in years to come. This year is all about laying the ground work for us; building as a team and helping them reach their full potential as athletes. Obviously I'd like to have some success in the arena as well. Picking up some checks along the way would just be an added bonus!
Tell us a little about the horses you ride and the current lifestyle you lead.
I have three horses in my rig right now that I've been really focusing on. One is an eight year old cow bred gelding. He was a cutter until he was five then a calf horse and now onto barrels. He's extremely athletic and just a cool horse. My other up and comer is a 7 year old mare that I got late last fall from a good friend, who raised and trained her. She's got all the makings to be a great rodeo horse. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. The third horse I've got has a very bright future ahead of him as well. He is a four year old Dash Ta Fame out of a Special Effort mare that my sister pro rodeoed on and I high school rodeoed on. He's special to us for a lot of reasons and we'll futurity him next year.
Who are your current sponsors?
4 Flat Tack out of Livermore, CA is my only sponsor right now but of course I'm always looking for more opportunities and would love to add to that when I start hitting the rodeo trail harder.

Happy Oreo day! Today I’m going to show you my take on homemade Oreos. I’m not a huge fan of crunchy cookies, so these are softer and chewier than the store-bought ones!
1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder (I use Hershey’s)
1 tsp. of baking soda
Pinch of salt
1/2 cup of softened butter (unsalted)
1/4 cup of brown sugar
3/4 cup of granulated sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 egg (room temp)
Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Directions:
With a mixer cream butter until light and fluffy. Add in both sugars and cream until combined. Then add vanilla and egg.
Add dry ingredients to wet, and mix until just combined. Dough will be thick.
Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes or more until chilled.
Preheat oven to 350° and line with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Scoop about two teaspoons of dough and roll into a smooth ball. You’ll be able to fit about 12 per cookie sheet. Flatten the tops lightly and bake for 8 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool on cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. This helps them finish cooking without over baking.
Now for the frosting – my favorite part!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of unsalted room temperate butter
1/4 cup of vegetable shortening (don’t skip this. It gives the thick texture to the frosting)
1 3/4 cups of powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:
Cream butter and shortening until smooth. Add in powdered sugar and vanilla. With mixer on low, combine and then bump up the mixer to high speed for a few minutes until whipped and combined.
Slather frosting inside of cookies, don’t be shy! Then stack 2 together like a sandwich!
Boom! Homemade Oreos. They are soft, chewy, and still perfect with a glass of milk!
Enjoy, and don’t forget to tag us @KimesRanchJeans and #CookingWithKimes

National Tortilla Chip Day
Today is national tortilla chip day and I’m showing you how to fry up some chips and make homemade salsas.
Tortilla Chips
Ingredients:
12 white corn tortillas
Vegetable or peanut oil
Directions:
Layout the tortillas on a cookie sheet to dry out for a few hours. This will ensure they are crispy all the way through.
Cut tortillas into 6 wedges, and heat about half an inch of oil over medium heat.
When the oil is hot and glistening, drop tortillas in and fry for a couple of minutes per side until golden in color. Remove to drain on paper towels or a paper bag.
Sprinkle with salt and serve hot.
Adobo Salsa
Ingredients:
1 can of chipotle peppers in adobo
3 tomatoes
1/4 of a sweet onion
Juice of 1 lime
1 handful of cilantro leaves
1 clove of garlic
1 tsp. of salt
Directions:
Add 3 chipotle peppers straight from the can into the bowl of a food processor or blender. Quarter the tomatoes, and add with the rest of the ingredients. Pulse or blend until desired consistency.
Fresh Pico De Gallo
Ingredients:
3 large tomatoes - seeded and diced
1/4 of an onion - diced
1 jalapeño - diced (seeds removed for mild)
Handful of cilantro - chopped
Juice of 1 lime
Salt to taste
Directions:
Dice all ingredients and combine in a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight.
Avocado Crema
Ingredients:
1 cup of Mexican Crema - or sour cream
1 large avocado - pitted and chopped
1 jalapeño - seeds removed
Juice of 1 lime
1 tsp. of salt
Directions:
Add all ingredients to a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. Serve cold!
Tip: This sauce is great to spread on steak sandwiches, as a vegetable dip, or drizzled on tacos!
What’s better than chips and salsa? Admittedly it’s my favorite snack...okay, sometimes it’s a full meal. I hope you enjoy these recipes! Don’t forget to tag us @KimesRanchJeans and #CookingWithKimes

It is February and that means all the pinks and reds and hearts and all the love come out extra this month. For me I only like Valentine's Day because of all the yummy candy. But, that doesn't mean we can't share the love for our favorites! So, with that being said I want to share with you the products from Kimes that I love.
I am going to start with my all-time favorite pair of skinnies, the Bonnie Black. These babies are super comfy, can be dressed casual or dressed up. They are long enough for you ladies with long legs but can easily be cuffed for us short gals. And they don't only come in black but other colors and styles as well!
Next, I want to talk about the Jolene’s. These are a boot cut and I love to dress these up but they are also great for riding. The comfort in these is also just perfection and the fit is perfect for me because well, I have curves! lol These babies aren't super loose in my waist and fit my legs great.
I am also in love with my wider legged jeans-both the Jennifers and the Lolas. I like to dress up outfits with them but they are some of my fave go-to’s to rodeo in. They are a high enough rise to keep all of my shirts tucked in. I just can't even put into words how much I love both of these styles.
But Kimes doesn't only have jeans, they also have sweatshirts. And these puppies are to die for. I haven't found a softer, comfier or warmer sweatshirt. They also have long sleeve button-ups which are super fun for rodeos or a casual styled outfit. Their ball caps and t-shirts are perfect for those summer days of just hanging out having a drink soaking up some sunshine.
I could keep going on and on about all the products that Kimes has, but these are the ones that I love the most! So this month spread the love for family and friends and of course your favorite, most loved brand and products.

We received a record breaking number of applications for our 6th Annual Kimes Ranch Sponsorship Contest. With entries coming in from all over the world, the Kimes Ranch team chose the 10 finalists, and then votes were opened up to the Kimes Ranch community. After 5 days and over 11,000 votes, 12 Year old Mary Francis “Francie” Heffernan of Fort Jones, California was chosen to be the newest number of the Kimes Ranch family.
An active member of the CHSRA, Francie competes at rodeos with her horse Martin. She and her family operate Five Marys Farms which focuses on ranching and promotion of the western lifestyle. Francie has goals to pursue her rodeo dreams while educating and inspiring other young people. “I had been a fan of Kimes before the contest since a lot of people that I look up to in the rodeo world wear Kimes Ranch. The thing I love most about the brand was how it is a family business similar to my family’s business.”
“Francie is a perfect representation of the lifestyle and ideals that we at Kimes Ranch hold dear,” says McKenzie Parkinson of Kimes Ranch. “Our yearly contest has proven a valuable avenue to meet and welcome unique and talented people to our team. Francie perfectly exemplifies a love for horses, ranching, and family-as well as embodies the youthful energy we try to bring to the western market.”
Kimes Ranch Jeans has multiple social media platforms to engage with customers. Heffernan found out about the contest through these platforms. She saw the contest opportunity and couldn’t pass it up. “I learned of the sponsorship contest when I saw an Instagram post on the Kimes Ranch page. I started looking at the past winners who were all so inspiring and thought I would take a chance at entering,” says Heffernan. “I am really looking forward to the support from the Kimes Ranch family and I am excited to represent them in 2020.”

Paige is an exciting new addition to the Kimes Ranch family she is going to be our wednesday contributor keeping us informed about everything rodeo:
Far from normal. The craziest risk taker you'll ever meet. You can find me on that Gypsy trail after a dream
I'm 23 years old, and I have been through the craziest and wildest things in my life! But, i'm truly blessed.
You see.. My mother, and Grandma raised me and my younger sister in Oregon. I was raised up by a single parent, and one of the hardest workers in my opinion. My mother taught me about tractors, how to fix them when they break and heavy operating equipment along with recycling. My mother raised me up on Indian rodeos and wild horse sanctuaries in Montana and Wyoming along with heavy metal music. Somewhere along the trail I fell in love with animals, and decided I wanted to take every animal home with me that I saw. With that being said.. My mother took me to some of the wickedest sanctuaries in the world! I'm talking big cat sanctuaries in Oregon, and Elephant sanctuaries along with aquariums on the Oregon coast! I have so much respect for my mom, and how hard she worked so me and my sister could live an amazing healthy life. My mom, and Grandma did everything for me and my sister including helping us in our dreams!
My Grandma is one of my biggest fans! My grandma is a retired barrel racer, and a retired horse racer and a GREAT business woman! My grandma, had the pleasure to rodeo with some amazing rodeo legends in her day such as Larry Mahan, Lane Frost, Jim Shoulders and Chris LeDoux just to name a few. My grandma now owns her own business called Liz Gregory Talent And Productions out of Nashville, TN and producing shows all over the world! I have had the privilege to travel too some amazing places with my Grandma and i'v met some amazing people along the way, for example: George Jones, Randy Travis, Vern Gosdin, Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, George Strait, and Sara Evans just to name a few. My grandma taught me about being an amazing business woman and not to be afraid to chase my dreams and take risks! That being said..
I'm the owner and founder of the very first official RodeoChat on Twitter. RodeoChat, is basically your one stop shop for everything rodeo/bull riding related 24/7 365 days a year. We cover from the states to other countries outside of the states such as Brazil, France, Hawaii and Australia. RodeoChat, has been featured at rodeos in New York, Colorado, Oregon, Calgary Stampede, National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas just to name a few. RodeoChat has been featured in 6 books, and been on several radio shows to do radio interviews. Not to mention, I helped host a radio show in Australia and Florida covering the rodeo/bull riding industry and talking about the country music industry as well. I just started a NEW series on RodeoChat called the "Ones To Watch For" blog series and in that series we will shine the light on an upcoming rodeo cowboy or cowgirl. I'm pretty excited to start this new project, and I'v been getting a lot of messages from fans to start a project like this! So here goes a risk, and to making some headlines with all of my RodeoChat fans!
Last but not least, I had the privilege to travel to Thailand and work at a Elephant Sanctuary and help out with all of the sick Elephants and learn about so many exotic animals that I have never heard of before in my life. That inspired me to open up a sanctuary of my own with equine, exotic, and marine life. I'v worked at so many animal sanctuaries in my life, and I believe that the people at Sanctuaries are some of the hardest workers in the world. Why? Because, they are literally on the clock 24/7 and they have to know about the animals their working with like the back of their hand. One more thing, it's a risk and i'm a crazy risk taker! When your passionate about something you'll give it your all.
My trail is pretty unique. I took online classes down the trail through volunteer state community college, and google.
I'm 23 with a business degree, and i'm getting ready to start my second business. Not to mention, I'm getting ready to head too Alaska for my very first time for 3 weeks to do media at a rodeo and to check out all of the amazing entertainment! I still can't believe i'm only 23 and I have already experienced so much at such a young age! I can't wait to see what the rest of my years has in store for me! I can say that god has truly blessed me with an amazing life.
I took risks to chase my dreams and it's led me to success and road blocks! But, i'm still shining bright..
Keep on Chasing your dreams until your heart breaks.

Tayler Bradley
With the new year beginning I decided to take a look back at what I have shared with y'all throughout 2019. As I was reading I shared a lot of things about my fashion and what I like or saw around me. I found myself saying "style or fashion is what you make it" but, I never really shared with y'all about ways to create your own style. So I figured the beginning of the year would be a perfect time to help share how I have created my style over the years and how it can help you create your own.
Let me start by saying I was not always the most stylish or had the most up to date fashion growing up and even into my first couple years of college. That all changed when I went to a whole new world in the south and saw all the amazing pieces that the ladies were wearing. So that is my first tip for creating style, take in those around you and feed off of their style to help with yours. You don't have create the exact same outfit but take bits and pieces from many different outfits to create one that fits you.
The next thing I do frequently is browse Pinterest. There is so much inspiration on there, y'all and it can help bring your style to a new level or to do something unique and different. I like to do this before big events that I am going to such as NFR or when I spend a week in Pendleton for the rodeo. It can help keep me organized and allows me to go back and look at something so I don't forget what it looks like.
The last thing that I do is to make sure I always follow my favorite people, brands and boutiques on Facebook or Instagram. This is a great way to find new pieces or take old ones to create new outfits. And as you follow these people and companies don't forget to try new things and step out of your comfort zones. I love this one because it really helps me look at things in a way I never would have thought of before. Just remember to not compare your style to theirs because everyone's is different.
So just so you dont forget, take in your surroundings, follow others on social media and browsing PInterest are my ways of creating my style and making it all me. I hope that y'all can go find some great inspiration and create a style that you love. It's a new year, so where will you take your style?

Do you need something to impress friends and family? Look no further. This recipe is easy, delicious, and comforting. I took my traditional cornbread recipe and used it as a topping for a chicken pot pie. With no pie crust to roll out, this recipe comes together quickly and without hassle!
Ingredients: Chicken Pot Pie Filling
2 cups of shredded chicken
3 carrots chopped
3 stalks of celery chopped
1 onion diced
3 cloves of garlic minced
1/4 cup of flour
2-3 cups of chicken stock
Splash of heavy cream
1/2 tsp of chopped thyme - optional Salt & pepper
Sauté carrots, celery, and onion until soft and translucent. Add garlic and cook another 3 minutes. Add chicken, and set heat to medium-high. Sprinkle flour over the top of mixture and let cook until flour is absorbed. Add in chicken broth and let bubble until thickened. Season with salt & pepper add thyme.
Ingredients: Cornbread
1 cup of yellow cornmeal
1 cup of all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup of buttermilk - room temp.
1 egg - room temp.
1/2 cup - 1 stick of unsalted butter melted
1/3 cup of dark brown sugar
3 tbsp. honey
(Try this: add some diced jalapeños and cheddar cheese for a ranchy twist)
Whisk together cornmeal, flour, baking powder & soda, and salt. In a separate bowl whisk brown sugar, honey, and melted butter until smooth. Whisk in egg, then buttermilk. Whisk wet ingredients into dry, until JUST combined. Do not overmix!
Assembly: Preheat oven to 375° Lightly oil a cast iron pan, or Pyrex dish. Pour in chicken mixture then top with cornbread batter. Smooth out to edges, sprinkle with salt. Bake for 15-20 minutes until filling is bubbling and cornbread is cooked through with a golden crust.
This was a really fun recipe to pull together, and beyond delicious! I hope you enjoy it as much as my family did! I served it in individual cast iron dishes, and it was a hit! Don’t forget to tag us @KimesRanchJeans #CookingWithKimes - Celeste

But one of my all time favorites is the Kustomize Your Kimes event. This year was so fun and I am always grateful for a company to put something on like this that allows us ladies in the western industry to come together and get creative with Kimes apparel.
When we arrived we were sent up the elevator to their sweet in the MGM. When I walked in I got to pick out a tee and a pair of denim from some great options. Then we were told of all the fun ways we could get creative. There was bleaching, shredding, patches, stitching and painting. There were so many fun options it was hard to decide where to start. I chose to start with the shredding and boy let me tell ya it is hard at first to cut a great pair of denim but after that first one I went to town! It was so much fun getting to add my own personal touch to my pants.
I then got going on my tee, I made a few cuts and then went wild with the bleach! I am loving this bleach vibe that is everywhere right now. It's funny how you try at first to place your bleach where you want it but it just never seems to happen that way. Fortunately, the end product is still awesome. After that dried I did some stitching along the horns with some fun mustard colored thread. I loved my outcome.
The other ladies also had some great ideas as well. They did some sparkle paint with their bleach and it turned out so cool. Others cut their tees into tanks or made cuts so the tee tied perfectly. With their denim there was some bleaching and major shredding. while others did patches with sparkly paint. And some creative gals stitched some fun designs into their jeans and boy was I amazed by all the outcomes.
This event was so fun, I already can't wait for next year. It was nice to take some time and do something different and exciting with some amazing people in the western industry. This event inspired me to be more creative with more of my clothes. And I hope that y'all reading this also get some inspiration to break out of your shell and be your selves through your fashion, even if that means making a few changes to a tee or some jeans.

Las Vegas in December is one of the biggest 10 days filled with hundreds of competitors all vying to be the best and 2019 was no different. It marks the second annual Rope for the Crown Finals held at the CORE Arena at the Plaza Hotel and Casino. This is a huge event that allows the best of the best breakaway ropers from all over the world to compete to try to be named the best roper. This year 75 ropers competed in three great rounds of fast times.
The night before the roping a back number ceremony was held to introduce each roper and present their back numbers. A calcutta was also held for those that wanted to take a chance on which roper would win. After all that Kimes threw an after party during the rodeo and also had live music from The Black Donnelly's Dublin. It was a fun night and got everyone excited for the roping the next day.
Each lady that competed was there representing their jackpot or rodeo association that they had won throughout the year. In the first round I know a lot of girls were feeling nerves and excitement but Arizonas Macy Fuller claimed the fast time and round win with a 2.8 second run. She was riding her horse Wick who had helped her secure her spot in the last chance roping the day before.
The second round did not disappoint at all. It actually got much faster! Texas A&M Commerce Rodeo team member Mia Manzanares was a blistering 2.2 seconds. That is a great run and actually ended up being the fastest of the whole roping. She took home the win in round two for sure. In the third and final round it again got super fast, these girls were not letting up. In the end for round three Kirby Eppert took home the win with a 2.3. She was there representing the Harmon Ranch Breakaway.
After three amazing round of roping the short round was held and only one girl could take home the average and the title of the best roper. And that girl was Sawyer Gilbert. She was 12.20 seconds on four head. She also took home the fast time for the short round go, with a 2.5 second run. Some of y'all may recognize that name and that is because Sawyer made the American Finals back in March. She really is an outstanding roper.
This roping is one of my favorites all year long and I hope it continues to grow and allows girls a chance to keep roping and growing the sport of breakaway. We thank all the sponsors and volunteers that helped to make this event happen. I hope to see y'all next year but until then happy roping!
